I'm sure you've heard of stories about other people having near death experiences they encounter when they find themselves in very dangerous situations. I was watching a program as part of the Super Soul Sunday series of comedian Tracy Morgan talk about the accident that almost took his life about a year and half ago which happened on his drive home after doing a comedy show. He talks about seeing his deceased father coming to him and telling him that he wasn't ready for him yet. It made me think of my near death experience I had in high school.
I look back on this event and it gives me chills to know that I could have been seriously injured that day or worse--I could have died from the impact. But I truly believe that it was God who saved me by stopping me on my tracks where I did. I think that is why I try very hard to do many things and have amazing experiences. Most importantly, my goal is to be a great role model for my little nieces and nephews.
Moral of this story: Always remember to look both ways before crossing the street.

Very few people know of my near death experience because I didn't like to think about it. Seeing Tracy Morgan on television a couple of weeks ago, made me realize that these experiences are also part of the human experience.
One day my senior year in high school, I was waiting for my dad to pick me up from school. It was a very bright and sunny afternoon and I was happy to be going home. As I was waiting for my dad, I noticed his black Thunderbird approach and parked along the curb in front of the school where a small park is present. I walked to the corner and waited for the crosswalk signal to turn on. The light turned and I was a few steps on the street when I noticed a red convertible run the red light and make a left turn--almost missing me by less than 2 inches!
The next milliseconds seems way longer to me. I remember seeing two reals of film in my head one on my left and the other on my right side almost forming a tunnel in my brain. The strange thing is that I was able to see everything so clearly on both sides. It was like a movie of my life from the earliest memories to all the people I loved and cared about and all the people I've meet so far up to that point in my life. It was very strange. It's true what they say, "Your whole life flashes before your eyes."
