Dear Love,
It's strange to write a letter to someone I haven't met before but I'm doing this as a way to tell you who I am in 2017. I'm 33 years old and I can tell you for a fact that I've thought about you more times than I can count. I often wonder what you will look like and if your personality will be similar to mine. I really hope you don't inherit my curly hair because that's going to be a pain to comb through when you're young. I even picked out your name since I was 20 years old! I won't mention it here because I don't want anyone to steal it.
Often times, I have lied in bed staring at my bedroom ceiling and I have placed my hand on my lower belly. To think, that I've been carrying half of your DNA inside of me since the day I was born. Let me tell you, we've been through a lot together. We've traveled to a few places in the world and I promise you that we will continue to do so for as long as I live.

I don't even know you kid, but know that I already love you. I hope that I find an amazing man who will complete you very soon. It's not easy but I can guarantee you that I will do my very best to pick out the best man for our lives who will love us unconditionally and along with me, your dad will teach you how to be strong, independent, self-confident, and smart.
So, life in 2017, has been very interesting. Even though the year just started, I have many plans to make 2017 an amazing year. I will admit, I'm not ready to welcome you in the world just yet, but know that I'm working on a few things before I can bring you into this world. Most of my plans include me being financially ready and being able to have a career where I can be flexible with my time. My mom always worked full-time and even had up to two different jobs at one time. I saw her as my superhero and have always been very proud of her. She is still someone I greatly admire and I'm so fortunate to be her daughter. We come from strong women and I want you to also be proud of me.
I have no idea how to be a parent right now, but I'm not fully worried about it because, in my heart, I know that I will do my very best to raise you right. I have the great example of my parents and other adults I greatly admire and love to show me the way. I also have Google for important questions regarding your health and other things that I'm curious about and need answers to. It's a guarantee that I will mess you up somehow but know that I will not do it intentionally. It happens to all of us in some way, shape, or form, where we are messed up and our parents are the ones to blame. All parents drop the ball sooner or later and it's part of life, so I hope you understand and remember this when you have your own children. It's the circle of life. Oh, which reminds me, I have to write a list of movies I want to show you so we can have interesting life lessons and discussions and Disney's The Lion King will definitely be one of them!
For now, just know and keep in mind that everything I do now before you're born, is to help secure a wonderful life for you. When you arrive, a new sense of purpose will enter my life and I'm really looking forward to having you in my arms and watch you grow up.
With great love,
Your future mom
PS-This has to be the strangest thing I've ever done but I did it with love.
