After Christmas Day Activities

I absolutely love the days leading up to Christmas.  There's something wonderful about doing a countdown towards getting to enjoy Winter Break with my family and be at home.   But what do you do after you open your gifts on Christmas morning?  What do you do for the rest of the day? Or the day after?  So I created a list to help keep you enjoying these great holiday moments:

How NOT to lose yourself

Love can be such a wonderful and powerful feeling to experience.  Being head over heels for someone you love is absolutely an amazing feeling!  However, there is something that happens to a lot of us, especially to women is that our love may turn into infatuation and can lead us to lose ourselves in the process of being in love with another person.

Expand your world--Learn a new language

If you ever want to help expand your world in a more creative and useful way, I strongly recommend that you learn a new language.  Being bilingual or multi-lingual is a gift that you should take advantage of. I can only say positive things about learning more languages.  If your family speaks a language other than English at home, make sure to become stronger in that language.  Your brain is like a muscle that must be trained to get stronger and better.

Things happen for a reason

I'm a firm believer that certain people come into our lives for a reason--whether it be for a long time or a short time.   I feel that in the end, people are here to teach us something about ourselves.  We grow from interacting with others.  We learn how to treat others the way others treat us and so forth.

Teachers make a huge difference!

I have been very fortunate to have had many wonderful educators in my life. I've been in school since I was five years old and I'm still in school now. I love learning new things. I find it fun and it's one of the things that I know how to do very well--how to be a good student.  This post is about the teachers who have inspired me to learn and grow.

Listening to Life's Little Whispers

I will tell you now... ALWAYS LISTEN TO YOUR INTUITION!  There's a reason why we have it. So please follow it. Your intuition is the little voice in your head that warns when something isn't right. It's your gut feeling.  It's when you find something strange and your body reacts to it by having the little hairs on the back of your neck or arms stand up. I am certain that we have it for safety reasons.

My Dream Goals

I'm huge on making goals for myself--short and long term ones.  I pride myself on the sense of accomplishment.  It feels absolutely amazing to cross something off of my list.

People watching

During my second year at college, I took a Sociology class on relationships.  It was very interesting and I learned how society is shaped by groups of people.  I remember doing a major project for this class called "Signs of Power."  The professor had given her lesson to explain what power is and how it's used every single day by EVERYONE!  Up to that day, I found the word "power" to mean something negative, only what dictators use to control their people.  I was clueless on the different forms of power.

My two worlds

I really wish that I had started traveling at the start of my adulthood.  I've come to find out that traveling is my new passion. I find myself daydreaming of the places I've been to and all the places I wish to visit in the future. I'm not really fond of the airports and actually being on the plane for long hours but I do enjoy discovering new places and learning new things about different cultures.

The best things of the fall season

One of my most favorite seasons is actually fall.  There are so many wonderful things about it.  I made a list for you of the reasons why I think the fall season is absolutely wonderful.

My addiction this year

I don't see myself as being a person who is obsessed or having an addiction to something because in my mind, I don't.  But I was pointed out by a couple of family members that what I like is not normal. To them, it seems strange and unappealing.  I honestly never thought of this as being a big deal. If I enjoy it, then why not keep doing it?  I'm not hurting anyone.

7 things I learned from being a kid

Being around my little nephews and nieces brings me back to my own childhood years.  It is nice to relive my childhood moments through them.  Looking back, I have learned a few lessons about life as a kid.

Overcoming my most embarrassing moment

We all have an embarrassing moment and for me, my most embarrassing moment came when I was a senior in high school.  Learn how I took charge and overcame this nightmare...read more!

Lottery wish list

I have a little confession to make.  I've been doing this for the past three months. At first, it was something that I would think about and as soon as it left my eyesight, I would forget about it.  Just like babies do before they attain object permanence: "Out of sight, out of mind."

Who I am in 5 songs

I love music! I can listen to music all day every day!  There are some songs that mean more to me than others for sentimental reasons.  I love listening to songs with a great beat and to songs with meaningful lyrics.

The best and worst dream I've ever had!

Several months ago, I woke up from a dream that to this day, I still think about from time to time. Let me tell you about it, then you can tell me what it might mean.

Welcome to my blog

Hi there, my name is Mayra and I'm new to the blogging world.  I'm looking forward to sharing stories with you about my life and other interesting things I find in general to share with you.  Why start a blog, you might ask? I've always been very curious about blogging and when I was younger, I used to love to write in a journal.  I'm at a point in my life where I would like to get back to the things I love to do, and writing is one of them.  Hope you get to enjoy the ride with me.
