I absolutely love the days leading up to Christmas. There's something wonderful about doing a countdown towards getting to enjoy Winter Break with my family and be at home.
But what do you do after you open your gifts on Christmas morning? What do you do for the rest of the day? Or the day after? So I created a list to help keep you enjoying these great holiday moments:
1. Watch old family videos, view pictures, share childhood memories with your family.
2. Cook together an old family recipe or try something new. Cooking on the crock pot is still cooking...just FYI.
3. Call someone who is not on social media. Go old school and actually pick up your phone.
4. Get creative with your thank you notes.
5. Do a movie marathon. Pick a theme and watch movies the rest of the day. Bring the popcorn and snuggle under a warm blanket. One of my most favorite holiday movies is The Holiday starring Jack Black, Kate Winslate, Jude Law, and Cameron Diaz. It's funny and very sweet. I strongly recommend it!
6. Make room for your new stuff. Make a donation box.
7. Play a board game together or any game. One of the games we play as a family is pin the nose on Rudolph. I have to admit that we have the best laughs when we play this game as a family. I think the adults have more fun with this game than the kids. We make it tougher on the grown ups with way more spins prior to pinning the nose on the reindeer.
8. Brighten someone's day by paying them a visit whether they are in the hospital, nursing home, or their own home. It will mean more to them than you will ever know.
9. Go out for a walk by yourself or with the whole family and enjoy some time outdoors (if the weather permits, of course).
10. You can always start all the things you wanted to do earlier in the year but didn't have time for...whatever that may be. I personally want to start watching the television series Empire. That's what I will be doing this Christmas holiday.
11. Tired of listening to holiday music? Break out your old CDs and tapes and play music from when you were a teenager or young adult. Create a station on your favorite free Internet radio sites.
I wish you a wonderful Christmas holiday with your loved ones.
Merry Christmas everyone,
Mayra :)
