My Dream Goals

I'm huge on making goals for myself--short and long term ones.  I pride myself on the sense of accomplishment.  It feels absolutely amazing to cross something off of my list.

I've been thinking a lot about the future and the things I want to accomplish for myself.   So, I took it upon myself to share my list with you and here it is, in no particular order:
  • Ride in a hot air balloon (I don't think I would do too well on the actual height thing but feeling myself moving up in the open air would be great to experience)
  • Keep traveling and learning  about different cultures
  • Write a screenplay (I've always wanted to write one since I was 10 years old.  It's definitely still on my to do list)
  • Become fluent in multiple languages which I'm still working on this goal every day
  • Become a successful blogger (after I find my niche)
  • I want to make a house into a home
  • Own and drive my own dream car which is still a Lexus
  • I want to have a career in something that will bring me joy
  • Marry the love of my life
  • Experience a miracle
  • Be able to make others feel good about themselves and help them see their strengths and potential
This list is always changing but I often find myself adding more things I want to accomplish. When something doesn't work out the way I originally planned, I often find myself in one of two situations: either it works out better than I thought or it completely fails but I learn what not to do next time I want to revisit this particular goal.

What are your dream goals in life?  After all, it starts with a single vision.

I love this quote from U.S. former First Lady, Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt: "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."

All the best to you,
Mayra :)

New Year's Eve Hispanic Traditions

I seriously believe that every culture has some very interesting ways of welcoming the New Year.  I grew up in a Mexican household in the United States, so I got the best of both worlds. I do have to say, that we have some every fun and creative ways to welcome the New Year:

Seeing the light

I'm sure you've heard of stories about other people having near death experiences they encounter when they find themselves in very dangerous situations.  I was watching a program as part of the Super Soul Sunday series of comedian Tracy Morgan talk about the accident that almost took his life about a year and half ago which happened on his drive home after doing a comedy show.  He talks about seeing his deceased father coming to him and telling him that he wasn't ready for him yet.  It made me think of my near death experience I had in high school.

Unanswered Prayers: Explained

When I was younger and naive, I used to pray a lot for the things I wanted and needed in my life.  A few years ago, I met a guy from an online dating site who I was certain he was the one for me. Over the years, I never truly understood why God didn't answer my prayers -- until now. It was very apparent to me that as this guy and I both grew up and live completely different lives; I noticed an overarching theme in his life where in the end, he has no inner peace in his life.  The drama in his life is still there as it was when I first met him many years ago but appear to be present in different ways.
