I have an 11-year old white, male, toy poodle named Snoopy. I first laid my eyes on him when he was a small puppy. He was taking a stroll around his mobile home in a trailer park complex in my old hometown. He was adorable from the get-go. He was so cute and he reminded me so much of my first dog, named Osito. I knew from the first moment I saw him that this adorable little puppy needed to be part of my family.
People have asked me why I named him Snoopy. The truth is, that my doggy picked out his own name. When I first brought him home, he was going by Tonito since it's the male version of Antonia (which was his mom's dog name). I wasn't too fond of that name. So, one day, my older brother and I were sitting on the patio with my new puppy, and we both started throwing out names and when we landed on "Snoopy" the pup looked straight at me. We said other names and I repeated the name, "Snoopy" again, and sure enough, he turned and looked straight at me once again. I took that as a confirmation of him accepting that name. What I didn't realize is that Snoopy would be pronounced Esnoopy by my Spanish speaking parents. Either way, Snoopy responds to both versions of his name.
Snoopy, for the most part, is a very loving dog. He does things that are found annoying but I have learned to see things in his perspective. An example of this is when the gardeners come over on Saturdays, Snoopy goes crazy and starts barking at them until they are gone. To others, he's annoying, but I have learned that Snoopy is only trying to protect us from that awful noise by masking it with his own bark so we don't get scared. LOL!

In an effort to make Snoopy sound more "Mexican," my family has baptized Snoopy with other names that my dog has taken and has accepted wholeheartedly. The other names Snoopy also responds to are:
1. Jose Esnoopy
2. Esnupedo (The beginning part is the Spanish version of his name and the word for fart in the end)
3. Noopy
4. Eh-muki
5. Bah-bah
6. Josefo
7. Snoopers
8. Snoop-dogg
7. Snoopers
8. Snoop-dogg

He is very close to my mom and dad and for that, I am thankful for. He's always with them, almost like a Secret Service agent. My parents find it absolutely annoying that Snoopy follows them everywhere they go, but I find it endearing that he still finds them cool and he wants to spend time with them.
Snoopy is also a spider checker. He takes this job very seriously and will do it every chance he gets. He will jump on my parents' bed and check to see if there are any bugs or spiders on their pillows by tossing them on the floor. My parents don't see the need for that service so they will close the door to keep Snoopy from doing his daily check.
Snoopy is such a good and caring dog. Every time I have my meals at the kitchen table, he stands on his hind legs to try to get a peek at my food to confirm that it's not poisoned. I only reward him when I have a certain meat on my plate that's not seasoned too much or not at all.
For the most part, Snoopy lets us know when he's hungry and when he needs to do his business outside. He will run to the door when he is in a hurry to poop or pee. When he's hungry, he goes to where his food is kept and won't stop staring at me until I serve him his food.
It's true what they say about pets, especially dogs, "Dogs give you unconditional love" and I strongly believe that. Snoopy almost feels like an actual person to me. It's hard to imagine life without him here at home. I hope you have a pet that you adore so much and brings you love and happiness in your life.
