6 Things on my Mind

Have you ever had those thinking sessions where you're stuck on a thought and you come back to it from time to time? There are times when I sit and think about different things regarding my future, or things on my to do list, but once in a while, I will get thoughts that I can't shake off.  Here is a small sample of six topics that enter my mind that I often wonder about:

1. Black holes
What are they exactly and what would happen if something goes in a black hole?  Do they enter a different dimension?  Another universe? I want to find out but at the same time it scares me to know why black holes actually exist. I have to thank my 7 year old nephew for this one.  He's been asking about black holes lately.

2. What's out there in the universe?
Where does the universe start and end?  Where is the edge of it? Will we ever discover and be able to enter a different galaxy?

3. If Selena Quintanilla was still alive today, would she be the biggest well-known artist in the world?
All I can say is that Selena was taken from us in 1995 and it still hurts today.  Listening to her English songs from her last album only help me confirm that she had what it takes for a successful cross-over into the Anglo music industry.  KIIS FM will play her songs once in a while and even though the songs are 20 years old, they are still relevant in today's music scene. Check out her English songs here.

4. How will others remember me?
I really hope that when people think of me, they remember a warm and happy moment that I shared with them.  Hopefully it's a moment that brings a smile when they think of a memory where I used humor to help brighten their day.

5. I wonder if Jennifer Garner and I would be BBFs in another life
I love Jennifer Garner since her days in Alias where she played a double agent spy.  I loved that show!  From what I've seen in the interviews that she's done on television is that she comes across like a sweet and down-to-earth woman.  And I wonder if we ran in the same circles, would we be good friends?  LOL!

6. If women were allowed to write the Bible...
Just with the simple difference of having women write the Bible, stories would have been told in a different manner and perhaps we would have had the same events told with more details and less confusion on interpretation.

Keep wondering,
Mayra :)

Seeing the light

I'm sure you've heard of stories about other people having near death experiences they encounter when they find themselves in very dangerous situations.  I was watching a program as part of the Super Soul Sunday series of comedian Tracy Morgan talk about the accident that almost took his life about a year and half ago which happened on his drive home after doing a comedy show.  He talks about seeing his deceased father coming to him and telling him that he wasn't ready for him yet.  It made me think of my near death experience I had in high school.

New Year's Eve Hispanic Traditions

I seriously believe that every culture has some very interesting ways of welcoming the New Year.  I grew up in a Mexican household in the United States, so I got the best of both worlds. I do have to say, that we have some every fun and creative ways to welcome the New Year:

Confessions of a newly single woman

It's not easy living life when your heart is broken. People say that no one dies from a broken heart but I will say, it sure makes life more difficult.  I had my relationship with my boyfriend of over a year recently end and the pain is very much present.  For reasons that were out of my control and looking back, I can only hope that he let me go because he really truly loved me and wants me to live a happy life even if it's without him. On some days, I wake up with him on my mind often wonder if he  still thinks of me, if he misses me or wonders if I'm doing well or not. These days are definitely my bad days.
