I love tiny houses!

It's official! I'm obsessed with tiny houses. Why?  I have no idea.  Is it their compact organizational spaces? I have been drawn to how other people live in tiny spaces for a couple of months now.  At first, I thought I was just looking at genius sheds in people's backyards, transformed into a hideaway, such as a reading room, a home office, a man-cave, or a nice retreat from their main houses.  But no, those tiny houses got to me and I have to tell you why.

1. I'm amazed how people can live in such a small space.  But it's no surprise when in cities all over the world people already live this way: New York City is one of them, even Hong Kong, and many places in Japan and other European cities. The truth is, it's not a matter of not wanting to have a bigger place; it's more of the fact that only nooks and crannies are available in their cities.

2. I'm fascinated with how much stuff people living in tiny homes actually have.  Their organization techniques are brilliant and I'm in awestruck of them.  It makes me want to downsize my stuff and live a more organized life.

3. People living in tiny houses also have something they have in common--they are happy with their lives living in a small space.  It makes sense when you think about it: the smaller the living space, the less stuff you have, and therefore, their level of stress is minimized. They are happy living this way.

Maybe one day, I'll be able to live in a tiny home and enjoy its benefits. But for now, I don't mind the space I currently have.

Thanks for reading!

New Year's Eve Hispanic Traditions

I seriously believe that every culture has some very interesting ways of welcoming the New Year.  I grew up in a Mexican household in the United States, so I got the best of both worlds. I do have to say, that we have some every fun and creative ways to welcome the New Year:

Seeing the light

I'm sure you've heard of stories about other people having near death experiences they encounter when they find themselves in very dangerous situations.  I was watching a program as part of the Super Soul Sunday series of comedian Tracy Morgan talk about the accident that almost took his life about a year and half ago which happened on his drive home after doing a comedy show.  He talks about seeing his deceased father coming to him and telling him that he wasn't ready for him yet.  It made me think of my near death experience I had in high school.

Unanswered Prayers: Explained

When I was younger and naive, I used to pray a lot for the things I wanted and needed in my life.  A few years ago, I met a guy from an online dating site who I was certain he was the one for me. Over the years, I never truly understood why God didn't answer my prayers -- until now. It was very apparent to me that as this guy and I both grew up and live completely different lives; I noticed an overarching theme in his life where in the end, he has no inner peace in his life.  The drama in his life is still there as it was when I first met him many years ago but appear to be present in different ways.
